This review is not about their service. The service is good, great even.

However this is about how Edge Pest Control as a company and how they acquisition customers. I signed up for their service in June of 2017 when a nice young man came to my door selling their products and services. Everything looked and sounded great but I made clear to him that I was not going to sign up for anything unless I could discontinue the services if I was unhappy. He assured me several times that I could cancel any time and that I was not being entered into a contract and/or service agreement.

My wife can attest to this as well since she was there at the door with me listening to everything he was saying. So we signed up. Over the next 6 months we decided to trim the fat from our monthly/quarterly expenses. I called them to discontinue the service and was told that I couldn't without incurring a cancelation fee.

The person specifically told me I was under a 12 month contract for their services. "TWELVE MONTHS" is how the person specifically stated it, several times. I expressed my unhappiness but relented and kept their services. Until today when I called to try and cancel it, yet again I am told the same thing; but this time instead of it being a "12 Month" contract it is a "9 SERVICES" contract.

Meaning I am contracted with them for 9 scheduled trips to my residence; since they are quarterly this means 2 years. The account manager that I spoke to this time around was completely unsympathetic to my qualms about the situation and even outright denying that his sales people misinform just to get people to signup. If that were the case then I should be the only person making this complaint; but I'm not, there are hundreds of people making this same complaint. The account manager was as helpful as a spoon in a knife fight and told me to either pay up the cancelation fee or keep my account until the 9th service trip is completed.

Heed my warning and learn from my mistake of not reading EVERYTHING when one of these sales people get to your door. Like I said, there is good, but know that your are in to them for at least 2 years once you put your signature on their agreement regardless of that lies come out the sales person's mouth.

Reason of review: Return, Exchange or Cancellation Policy.

Monetary Loss: $266.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Edge Pest Control Pros: Service.

Edge Pest Control Cons: Dishonest and misrepresented, Crooks do not sign contracts.

Location: 5815 6th Ave, Lakewood, CO 80214, USA

Thank you for writing this. This is near my exact experience.

They are immovable when you bring this issue up to the customer service representatives because it's a clear business practice taught to the sales team.

I decided it's too hard for each of us to try to fight them on our own so I am collecting all of the similar complaints and will be taking sharing them with Oregon's attorney general to demonstrate this is an Edge business practice similar to the nefarious contract practices of Jack Howk plumbing - a company that was banned from operating in Oregon. I will also explore the feasibility of a class action lawsuit.

I had the exact same experience of misrepresentation of the contract, not being able to see the contract until after the 3 day right of rescission, uncooperative supervisors. Please include us in any action you take!
