Edge Pest Control - Fraudulent Misrepresentation of Contract Terms
We called the service to our home in August 2018 to spray an active wasp nest inside of the eve overhanging our porch. Several weeks later the company claimed that we had signed a 2-year contract on the first service call and that we had to pay them for 9 additional visits to the home ($1,200)!
If we wanted out of the contract, they said that we had to pay 50% of the remaining contract amount, or $600 as a cancellation fee. What I had "signed" when they came out was an electronic signature box on an iPad which the service technician told me was authorization to perform that day's services, no mention of a 2-year contract to me and no accompanying text that indicated that it was a 2-year contract. I repeatedly called the corporate office to cancel the verbally misrepresented contract.
This cancellation was continuously denied to us and now they are threatening that if we don't pay the cancellation fee that they will send us to collections. If for whatever reason you DO choose to use Edge for your pest control service, record all phone calls, watch out for deceptive business practices, and report anything that appears to be fraud to the state attorney general, the Federal Trade Commission, and your local consumer protections bureau.
