False advertising - total rip off

I had a monthly rodent service that expired and I wanted to renew it. They no longer have the monthly rodent service, so signed me up for a quarterly service.

After the initial service, I was informed I would have to pay additional fees for the rodent service - my "renewed" service covered only insects. I do not need insect service. How can I renew a service I never had? After many phone calls and my refusal to pay an additional $200 for the rodent service I do need, they agreed to terminate my agreement.

Only the initial service had ever been performed - for $82. Now, I get my credit card bill with a $319 charge. That is outrageous!! This company is a total rip off.

Initially, I was just going to cancel the rodent service all together until they assured me the renewal service would be better and cheaper.

Then they charge me 22% of my old annual fee for a single service. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS OUTFIT.

ON 6-5-19 I WAS TOLD THAT RODENT CONTROL WOULD COST 89.99, AND 119.00 QTRLY. FIRST I WAS BILLED WRONG 249.99. THE TECH CAME OUT WITH SPRAY - I NEVER ASKED FOR IT. HAD ME SIGN HIS TABLET HE TOLD ME I WOULD GET A COPY ON EMAIL. AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION HE BROUGHT BACK 4 POISON BLACK BOXES - SAID HE WOULD BE BACK THE NEXT WEEK - NO TECH TO CHECK ON ANYTHING. CALLED EDGE AND I WAS ASKED IF I WAS HOME THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD SEND SOMEONE OUT - NO TECH. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. ALSO THEY HAVE NEVER SENT A COPY OF WHATEVER I SIGNED.

Still not resolved! Have called me when I was not in.

Wife told them they would have to talk to me. They want a $299 canceling fee EVEN THOUGH THEY DID FULFILL THEIR PART OF THE CONTRACT.

Original review May 07, 2019
We have vols. They said putting boxes with chemicals would rid us of them. Every time they came out I asked them to check the boxes for the chemical. Twice they didn't. The first time I complained, a supervisor came out apologized and put more boxes out. In Feb, they came out and I expressively asked him to check the boxes. After he left, I went out to see if he did and lo and behold, the recent snow had NO FOOTPRINTS AROUND THEM !!!!! I cancelled the service. They billed me a early termination fee. When I pointed out they didn't fulfill their part of the contract , actually providing me the services the contracted for, they told me that IT DIDN'T MAKE AND DIFFERENCE, THEY WERE STILL GOING TO BILL ME. This company has no customer relations! Just cares about the money. Called another pest company -was told I was the 3rd person he had talked to that day that cancelled.

Cancelling is a Big Headache

I had two simultaneous agreements with Edge to handle a pocket gopher and rodent problem we had. They told me that I could only do a multiple month contract, but that I could cancel the contracts after the first month by calling them. When I tried to cancel at the end of the first month, they said that I would be responsible for 50% of the rest of the one year contract. They would not agree with me that their representative said I could opt out after the first month. I will never, never, ever do business with the EDGE company again. I encourage you to proceed with caution if you decide to sign off on an agreement with them!!!!!!

Hi, I am also experiencing the same issue. I would like to know whether you paid the 50% of rest of the Services after cancelling the EDGE Service or not...

I hope this review helps others make informed decisions

I had bites up an down an arm and the doctor told me they were bed-bugs bites. (Bed bugs bite, move a little, bite again and keep going doing the same. My bites were lined up, so it made sense. Immediately my husband called Edge Control and the two salesmen soon were here. They used their phones flashlights to look on the mattresses, mattresses spring, pillows, and peeked behind pictures and baseboards. "You don't have bed bugs," they told us. Still, they tried to sell us a contract. My husband told them, "Why hire you if we don't have bed bugs?" After they left without a contract, I was vacuuming EVERYTHING when I saw a reddish bug with wings on the carpet. Maybe we didn't have bed bugs but we had bugs, so my husband called Edge back. I will summarize my experiences with the exterminators as if the exterminators were one, because all of them insisted that we didn't have bed bugs. But know that every two weeks for six weeks a different young man came. I also will refer to them as "He." No woman on this crew. He sprayed the baseboards, mattresses and mattress springs. He suggested that I was hallucinating. He called a woman "crazy" for showing him a plastic bag with a hair-lock for him to check it for bugs. Well, In the morning I combed my hair over the toilet so I could flush the bugs. He said that bed-bug bites cannot be diagnosed. He said that bed bugs have no wings. Well, some adult bed bugs do but they can't fly. Horror of horrors: He said that spiders don't live inside a house. The exterminators and the salesmen said that the bed bugs also lived behind the baseboards. But none took a knife to see if there were there. I did. Bed bugs and mites live not only on beds and behind baseboards but inside any crack they can hide. If you have a porous floor and walls, the metal edges of shower glass- door frame . . .if you suspect you have bed-bugs, take a knife or blade to check and prove that you're not crazy or hallucinating. If a Pest Control company doesn't know what a bed-bug bites may look like; if the Pest Control company doesn't know that an adult bed-bug has wings; that they can be in your hair; that spiders can live in houses; that a woman is not hallucinating when she says she has bed-bugs; if a Pest Control company doesn't take a knife to check if there are bed-bugs behind the baseboards, don't hire that Pest Control company.

Lie continually

The service was scheduled ONE TIME and an agreed to price was established. They came out several more times (without my knowing) and then started charging me for "services". I cancelled the service and it took months to get a refund of some of the money they charged my card. This was two years ago. They just left a message on my phone stating that I was a "current customer" and they'd be out to my home for servicing. I called and told them that if their van rolled up in front of the house, I would call the police. This is a VERY sneaky company...yes, a SCAM!

Tricked to sign a contract

I had ants in my home and when Edge Pest Control came to offer their services had me sign the first page of the contract where you can't see that you are tight with them for few years doesn't matter they deliver a promised service or not. When I got the paper work from them then I saw that it is a contract for 2 years on the second page.

The contract you sign is something no one should sign.

Usually on contracts you have to sign at the end of the contract or at list to put your initials on things like that not one the first page.

They came to your home door unscheduled. One think I can tell you, The ants multiply, looks to me that they feed them instead of killing them.

They charge the credit card even the service is not provided.

Horrible service and business practice and very unprofessional.

Do not sign any paper with them.

Fraudulent Misrepresentation of Contract Terms

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We called the service to our home in August 2018 to spray an active wasp nest inside of the eve overhanging our porch. Several weeks later the company claimed that we had signed a 2-year contract on the first service call and that we had to pay them for 9 additional visits to the home ($1,200)!

If we wanted out of the contract, they said that we had to pay 50% of the remaining contract amount, or $600 as a cancellation fee. What I had "signed" when they came out was an electronic signature box on an iPad which the service technician told me was authorization to perform that day's services, no mention of a 2-year contract to me and no accompanying text that indicated that it was a 2-year contract. I repeatedly called the corporate office to cancel the verbally misrepresented contract.

This cancellation was continuously denied to us and now they are threatening that if we don't pay the cancellation fee that they will send us to collections. If for whatever reason you DO choose to use Edge for your pest control service, record all phone calls, watch out for deceptive business practices, and report anything that appears to be fraud to the state attorney general, the Federal Trade Commission, and your local consumer protections bureau.

This company is crooked

Crooked company with mediocre service. I moved to address out of service area and need my service cancelled but they are forcing me to pay an early termination fee of over $400. The contract you sign is something no one should sign. They have terrible communication with the customer and they will show up to your house unscheduled without calling. Has happened many times and has been very disruptive to my life. The techs are also very uneducated in what they are doing and why. Do not use this company. This is a shady business under the disguise of good marketing. Stay Away!!!!!!!!!!

Worked there as a tech. Everything was great....until...Garrett Wilbourne of Colorado Springs darkened the doorway. Past managers were great. Garret showed up and took over. He had some serious control issues and techs started quitting. He would spy on us in the field with binoculars. Weird AND *** The company has GPS on all their vans. No problem with that, but now they have installed cameras INSIDE the vans. Wow! They say it is for accident prevention, but hey, we aint stupid. They would routinely schedule you for 20 to 25 stops a day...Homes were usually 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft. So they also gave you about 15 minutes to spray one home and get to the next one. You would have to meet every morning fir a silly waste as much time as possible meeting. Then on thursdays they had a culture meeting and to lift and bless. It was a total waste of time, and you were threatened with write ups if you didn't pass the test at the end of the video. You also had an Ipad that you had to enter all,the acct info on out in the field...plan on getting off at FIVE...NOPE...BAM...customer care center just slapped 2 more 5 to 7 pm new "service opportunities" as they called them on ya. You are not allowed to eat in the vans. No smoking. I totally do agree with the no smoking, as you are handling chemicals, but to not be able to even snack while driving, cause you are so slammed with services, you routinely go hungry all day. You will run into alot of messes that other lazy techs did and you have to spend extra time cleaning it up and still fo all of your stops. Pay is comission based you get about $10 per stop, byt, if they have to have a callback, then you go back, and they take half of it away and give it to the tech who covers it. Another callback...there goes the other $5! You are only allowed ONE day of vacation oer year. Yep, ONE! They do offer health ins, but the copays are very unrealistic. They are a mormon based company and try to instill thier religious beliefs on everyone indirectly. Interesting because Garrett Wilbourne is a manager, BUT he is living with his girlfriend and they are NOT married, which is totally against their church standards. Nepotism is huge there and if you arent related to the owners you wont advance in the company. Image is very important to them and during the summer they rent fancy cars for management and the door to door salesmen to project a successful image. Glassdoor reviewers clain they git free lunches...umm, okay, when and WHERE?...cause we never got any free lunches, EVER, Neither did the people in the Denver branches. The office in COS was right next door to a crematorioum and the smell i can still remember and still makes me want to vomit. They have a huge really nice office in other locales, but they really went ghetto on their choice of office space on this one! They claimed it was a central point between COS north and Pueblo. Ewww. It is a very gross area of town. Lits of crime and gangs in that area. There is no office staff or secretary. All calls are handles thru utah. Good luck getting HR to call, you if you need to talk to them about a manager abusing his employees. Several calls made to HR were never rerurned...regarding health ins reimbursements months prior and about Garrett. Garrett did nit have any peiple skils and was all about numbers. That ipad was graded daily and was a pass fail thing. You went to work scared and hopingvyou passed the ipad from the day prior. You had to enter linear feet on every acct, and god help you if you forgot. Alot of techs were so pressed for time that they would walk right past bait boxes and hit NA on the bait station, and not scan or check them. It was a shortcut they took so they could try to get done sooner. That made a bad sutuation for the next tech who had to fix it all. So, fixing all these messes pkujs your stops, and you still have 6 mire regular services to fo and its 6 p.m? Too bad! You WILL stay out until they are done with no help from anyone! It wasnt like that with prior manager. He pulled everyone together and we did all help each other, but Garret changed all that. He really is not a nice peraon and has a serious control issue. The techs all hated him. When he was on Gutter Gestapo patrol, we would alert each other. 3 tecwhs quit within 3 days of each other because he was such an *** h o l e! If you get in an at fault accident you will be fired. No exceptions. Even if you slid on ice cause they make you drive on snow and ice in bad conditions. They do not have 4wd vehicles. There is also no way to give a custiker a receipt either fir service. Alot of seniors i serviced didnt have computers and no email. Hard to get them a receipt. They sucker customers into a 2 yr contract and if they cancel before it is up then they charge their credit card the FULL amount of the contract. Well, now you know how it really is behind the scenes there.

I am surprised and now very leery after reading the customer reviews! The only problem I am having is a sick little dog but, unsure if Edge is the reason.

Will definitely look into their pesticides and talk to my vet about it today because edge was out a week ago and my little dog is sick for no specific reason. Will get a tox screen today.

Easy to sigh up, Terrible to stop service

If you are willing to pay whatever they ask and never cancel they may be the service for you. If it will make you happy that they refuse to let your spouse cancel while they are on the Phd but make you call back and when you say you want to cancel they service they put you on hold for 27 minutes only to have Spencer run you around for anther ten minutes then these are your guys! In the end we just want to switch our pest control to Stewards who do our Lawn service to save some money and they have better customer service.

I was aware of the length of the contract but I didn't realize they were under no obligation to provide me the service they sold me. I kept complain and telling them it wasn't working and NOTHING! When I cancelled I said I was happy to pay if they would have solved my problem all they could say is I had to pay and stay with them no matter what! Contract for Mother

My mother, who is 91, thought she was getting a one time service and now has 3 charges on her credit card. I can't get anyone to call me back.

She is alone and when she called to ask about it, they told her she had 6 more visits at a charge of $119.97 each. She only saw an exterminator once at her house. When she said she didn't want a contract and they told her they would make her a "deal" and if she paid $359.97 (cost of 3 visits), they would get her out of her contract but no service ! Ridiculous...I have tried calling them and no one will return my call.

I am concerned about the reputation of this company...this is in Longmont, CO and she talked to Byson. I want someone to get back to me...I will continue to call...you don't take advantage of people on fixed income and then barter with them !!!!

Beware! Do not use Edge for pest control!

The product is not effective, they provide virtually no notice when they come (you get a call when they're on the way) so that if you have other issues or pests to deal with and you're away from home, you miss your chance. And its IMPOSSIBLE to cancel your account. Just when you think you have, they've completed another service and charged you for it. The manager I spoke to basically told me I talked to the wrong person when I called and cancelled.

How was I to know? Their customer service is garbage!
